Microsoft Retail Application Developer Award

Microsoft honored Edifice with the 2003 Retail Application Developer (RAD) award. The annual
RAD award, given to companies that exhibit leadership and innovation in application
development, specifically recognizes applications that provide tangible business benefits.
Edifice received the award in the Supply Chain category.
In the fast-paced, highly competitive world of retail, suppliers must communicate effectively
with retailers to assure their assortments make it to the right place, at the right time and
at the right price. Edifice gives this edge to suppliers, by providing them with timely
access to accurate point-of-sale information. The type of point-of-sale information services
Edifice provides both pinpoints potential problems and creates opportunity for proactive
retailers and suppliers.
Tom Litchford, Director of Marketing for retail industries at Microsoft, has extensive experience
with retail systems. He states, "As the landscape grows increasingly competitive in the retail industry,
the most successful companies will be those that can adjust to an environment where change is a constant.
The ability to discern what customers want, and to be able to provide it to them not only how and when
they want it, but at a price that maintains a company’s margins, has become a challenging proposition in
today’s rapidly shifting marketplace. It requires a high degree of business agility throughout the
enterprise, from the point of sale in each store to the most complex headquarters-level systems."
