Dick's Sporting Goods Chooses Edifice POS Information Services


Pittsburgh-based Dick's Sporting Goods, a full-line sporting goods retailer offering a broad assortment of brand name sporting goods equipment, apparel and footwear has selected Edifice Information Management to be the provider of Point-of-Sale Information Services to its suppliers. Dick's operates 270 stores in 34 states throughout the Eastern half of the U.S. and is expected to generate $2.6 billion in revenue for 2006. Major brand names carried by Dick's include adidas, Bowflex, Callaway Golf, Lifetime Basketball, New Balance, Nike, Proform Fitness, Reebok, TaylorMade, and Under Armour.

Weekly, Edifice will collect POS data at the UPC / store level for all suppliers. Each supplier will have access to their own POS information in a pre-defined report suite that includes analysis highlighting opportunities for increasing sales, improving margins and lowering inventories. Dick's internal staff (merchandising, sales, planning, operations) will have access to the same POS information and analysis as the suppliers. Working from identical data will allow management to improve the effectiveness of the Dick's / supplier meetings and will enable closer collaboration.
